Ok, I’m sure I’m not the first person to blog about this, but I read Hunger Games recently and dayum.
First off, I’m not a big fan of the first person perspective so I was surprised when I read this book in less than a day. First person always makes me feel separate from the setting and world of the story, but the main character was so compelling I was easily able to get past it. (This did not happen with the Sookie Stackhouse series, sadly).
The setting is fabulous. A world where young children fight to the death to feed their people. It’s twisted and brilliant. It reminded me a little of the movie Robot Jox from the early 90s where instead of fighting wars countries fought by training experts to operate giant robots.
I haven’t enjoyed a young adult series as much since Harry Potter. Bravo and looking forward to reading the rest of the series
